Lay summary
This project aims to identify Maori life course research priorities with a specific focus on pregnancy, mother and child as a contribution to Maori health gains. Our multidisciplinary Maori research team will use extensive networks, skills and experience in an inclusive Kaupapa Maori approach through four key phases. We will scope the project including a literature review and produce a scoping document to provide direction for the substantive consultation and discussion. We will gather data via facilitated discussions with participants including whanau/hapu/iwi, local and regional groups, national organisations and other research and stakeholder groups. We will analyse the data to identify and prioritise the research needs in the domain and test this, using a targeted survey and other feedback processes. We will synthesise the findings as a national research agenda in a final report and contribute to dissemination as appropriate.
