Lay summary
The purpose of the seeding grant is to identify Maori perspectives on receiving end of life care from a hospice, and from this understanding, plan a relevant research project. Hui with whanau of deceased hospice patients, interviews with kaumatua /kuia, and association with Maori researchers will allow this purpose to be achieved. This endeavour will support future research that can begin to answer how hospices in Aotearoa New Zealand can provide palliative and bereavement care that aligns with te ao Maori in a way that is flexible to the needs of individual patients and their whanau.
