Lay summary
Data collected from a qualitative study completed by Joanna Fadyl and Kathryn McPherson, offers the unique opportunity within which to explore issues of importance for Pasifika participants following spinal cord injury. The analyses will involve looking into the cultural aspects important for Pasifika peoples’ recovery after a spinal cord injury and identify if these issues are addressed in patient information material given to patients on discharge at the Otara and Burwood spinal units. This studentship will enable me to develop and apply my qualitative research skills under experienced supervision to further my experience and support my career development. The findings will also help to ensure informational resources meet the needs of Pasifika following spinal cord injury.
