Physical activity is an important aspect of hauora, and for Maori tertiary students, physical activity has a role to play in maintaining wellness and reducing stress while studying. This research aims to investigate factors that enable and factors that create barriers for physical activity among Maori tertiary students at Otago University. Semi-structured interviews will be carried out with a range of Maori students at Otago to identify their experiences of physical activity while at University and the factors that supported, or got in the way, of physical activity. It is expected that this research will lead to both a resource for Maori students in relation to supporting their physical activity, as well as identify institutional barriers where recommendations could be made for change.
