Housing quality is an important determinant of health. The Healthy Housing Index is a New Zealand-developed tool which allows an audit of housing quality to be undertaken. This project will analyse the results of an audit of 50 Maori owner-occupier houses in the Nelson- Marlborough District. A literature review, descriptive analysis, and report will be undertaken by a Maori student nurse over the 2013/14 summer vacation. The data are already collected, and ethical approval is in place. Associate Professor Te Kani Kingi will provide supervision and oversight. Infrastructural support will be provided by the Research Centre for Maori Health & Development.
