Lay summary
The research project aims to investigate the underlying causes of Depression amongst NZ born Tongan, further determine the reasons as to why Tongan Youth are susceptible to underreporting of Depression. This is a strong implication that although Tongan youth are suffering, simultaneously they are not receiving the support and services required to cope with Depression, leading to worsening conditions, self-harm and internalized stresses. A literature review will be conducted to review and synthesize Research already completed, making light of what further needs to be researched and recommendations of potential interventions and policies which will be effective.
