Lay summary
The proposed study is of a qualitative nature and aims to identify the various barriers that are preventing our Pacific peoples from accessing and maintaining an adequate, to an excellent, state of healthcare. These barriers may include (but are not limited to) cultural, religious and financial reasons. I aim to identify these barriers and categorise them into the most common to the least common in order to truly identify what is really going on behind our doors. I aim to bring to light any currently unaddressed barriers and stress the importance of breaking them in order to obtain better health outcomes for our people. In identifying these barriers, I also hope to raise awareness for programmes to address these barriers at an individualised level. My hope is that Pacific peoples can stop being the subject of negative health outcomes and start being a part of the solution.
