Lay summary
The application for a networking grant comes from Health Services Research Centre (HSRC) Victoria University of Wellington and Pacific Perspectives Limited, based in Wellington. Although the HSRC has worked with key members of Pacific Perspectives in the past, we are now working together jointly with a number of Pacific health providers to build capacity, particularly in research and evaluation, and to demonstrate service effectiveness. A networking grant will enable us to strengthen and grow our relationship, capacity and knowledge-building, to work together on projects that will improve health outcomes for Pacific peoples. The networking grant will assist us to plan and develop two research proposals entitled: (1) 'Experiences of services for Pacific people with chronic illness: literacy, pathways and integration' investigating health literacy, access to and use of Healthline and radio information, and pathways from primary to secondary care and visa-versa; and (2) Soifua Manuia o Fanau: Partnership with church communities through early childhood health education.
