The HRC offers the following grants (contracts) in this category:
Up to $5,000 is available to develop and pilot Maori health research proposals. The cost of consulting with particular communities to develop a research project may be covered. Maximum duration is one year.
Grants-in-Aid
Up to $5,000 is available for dissemination of research results, including health research hui and publications.
Seeding Grants
Up to $5,000 is provided towards the development of a Pacific health research proposal for the annual HRC contestable funding round. Maximum duration is one year. Seeding funding can be used to undertake consultation with community representatives, or researchers, to pilot specific aspects of the research design or for individuals/groups with no other source of research funding to write a proposal.
Eligibility
Applicants should be of Pacific Islands descent and a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident. Generally applicants will need to demonstrate in their application the competency of the proposed research team and an ability to deliver a proposal of quality for the HRC's contestable funding round.

Pre-application requirements
Potential applicants for Seeding Grants must contact the relevant Manager (i.e. Kaiwhakahaere Rangahau Hauora for Maori Seeding Grants and the Manager, Pacific Health for Pacific Seeding Grants) to ensure they are fully aware of the objective of this fund, before submitting an application.

A hard copy full submission is required by due date. E-mail or fax applications will not be accepted.

Assessment Process
Applications are sent to an Assessing Sub-Committee (ASC) established under the relevant Research Committee (Maori Health Committee or Pacific Islands Health Committee).
Assessors score applications (out of a total of 28 points) based on the following criteria:
1.Maori/Pacific Health Significance/Relevance
2.Scientific Merit
3.Design and Methods
4.Expertise and Track Record of rhe research team
Assessors also evaluate but do not score the cultural competency of the research team and the project.
Funds are applied to fundable applications according to requested amounts, the $5,000 ceiling, policy relating to indicated use of funds, and funds available.
Assessing Sub-Committee initial recommendations are then submitted to the relevant Research Committee who review and submit final recommendations to Council for Approval.
