International Investment Opportunities Fund (IIOF)
The International Investment Opportunities Fund (IIOF) was established by the Government (Vote RS&T) with the aim of increasing the ability of New Zealand researchers to participate in research collaborations that attract international co-funding, to recruit highly experienced researchers from overseas and to support participation in international research programmes with a high relevance to New Zealand's economic, social and/or environmental development. The scheme gave priority to opportunities involving bilateral partners identified in the Government's RS&T International Linkages Strategy.

FP7
FP7 provides an opportunity for New Zealand researchers to access European talent and resources. Three areas of focus have been chosen for the visit to best align with New Zealand expertise and focal areas of FP7. These are human development and aging, brain and brain-related diseases, and fundamental genomics including cancer genomics.
Health is one of the nine themes of FP7 and there will be six billion euros disbursed over the coming six years under this programme, as well as opportunities for health research funding.
