Who is eligible?
Conference grants are available to assist in the organisation of conferences on health research related topics. Priority will be given to support conferences of a “one-off” nature. Conferences, workshops and symposia that take place on an annual basis are eligible for consideration for support no more than once every three years.
Value of Grant
Funds of up to $10,000 are available, but awards will usually be in the order of $5,000.

Assessment Process
Applications are considered by an Assessing Committee who score applications based on the following criteria:
• the conference must focus on health research that meets the mission and outcomes of HRC;
• preference will be given to conferences that are in research areas Council acknowledges as important to New Zealand health research;
• when sponsoring/supporting conferences, the HRC must be provided with the opportunity to utilise any key note speakers for presentations/lectures, and;
• the assessing committee must be confident proposed administration and other funding arrangements are adequate.
The application's average rank and score is computed from the total score of 20 and each application is ranked. Funds are applied accordingly to requested amounts, policy relating to indicated use of funds (budgets are reviewed and adjusted appropriately), applications considered fundable and funds available. AC recommendations are then submitted to Council for approval.
