Promoting health research in the Pacific community and funding research that will improve the health outcomes of Pacific peoples are the broad objectives of the team. The Pacific team's core work involves :
- Strengthening the capacity and capability of the Pacific health research workforce
- Offering scholarship opportunities for Pacific peoples in health and health research
- Administering the promotion, assessment and contractual agreements of Pacific awards
- Promoting Pacific health research in New Zealand and in the wider Pacific region
- Developing Pacific health research networks
- Improving the access of Pacific peoples to HRC funding opportunities
- Developing Pacific health research policy
- Providing Guidelines on Pacific health research
- Building funding partnerships with other agencies for Pacific health research
- Maximising funding opportunities for research that will improve the health outcomes for Pacific peoples
Pacific health research and health workforce capacity building is a key focus for the HRC Pacific Health Research team. The team is responsible for coordinating several capacity building initiatives and administering a variety of health and health research funding awards.
The HRC Pacific Health Research team is based in Auckland. The Pacific Health Research team is part of the Research Partnerships Group of the HRC Secretariat.
The HRC Pacific Health Research team consists of Ms Everdina Fuli, Manager, Pacific Health Research and Ms Kalolaine Vaipuna, Project Coordinator, Pacific Health Research.
