Pacific Health Research Committee (PIHRC)
The HRC Pacific Health Research Committee (PIHRC) provides the HRC with advice about Pacific health research issues and gives strategic level direction and guidance to the HRC's Pacific team. There is also a Pacific Science Assessing Committee that selects successful applicants for Career Development Awards.

Professor Tagaloatele Peggy Fairbairn-Dunlop is the Founding Professor of Pacific Studies Institute of Public Policy (IPP) at the AUT University. Previously she was Associate Professor and the Inaugural Director Vaaomanu Pasifika (Pacific and Samoan Studies) at Victoria University of Wellington. Her contributions to research and training in the area of Pacific development issues over the past 30 years was recognised with an Insignia of an Officer of the NZ Order of Merit. She holds a PhD from Macquarie University, Australia, M.A. and B.A. (Hons) first class from Victoria University of Wellington; and a Diploma in Teaching and Teaching Certificated, Wellington.

Dr Southwick is the Dean of Faculty and Director, Pacific Health Research Centre, Whitireia Community Polytechnic. She is also Chair of the Nursing Council and was a member of the Health Workforce Advisory Committee 2001 - 2004. Dr Southwick has extensive experience in building Pacific Health Workforce, nursing and community work.
Dr Etuate Saafi
Post Doctoral Fellow, PhD in Biostats, MBA, MSci, BSci
Dr Saafi is a biomedical research scientist with a Master of Business Administration. He is currently a senior research fellow in the office of the AVC Māori and Pacific at the Albany Campus, Massey University, Auckland.
Dr Ieti Lima
PhD in Sociology, MA (Hons), BA
Dr Lima is Pacific Health academic and is currently a Senior Health Promotion Strategist with the Health Promotion Forum of New Zealand, and a Senior Researcher for the Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs.
Dr Satu Viali
BHB, MBChB (NZ), FRACP
Dr Viali is the Clinical Dean for the Oceania University of Medicine, Samoa. He is a internal medicine specialist whose work focuses on cardiology, gastroenterology, diabetes, high blood pressure and other non-communicable general medicine conditions.
Mr Russell Blakelock
BHB, MBChB, FRACS
Mr Blakelock is a Consultant in Paediatric Surgery and Paediatric Urology, and is also a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the Department of Surgery, University of Otago's Christchurch School of Medicine and Health Sciences. He holds a Bachelor of Human Biology and Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from The University of Auckland. He also holds a F.R.A.C.S (General Surgery) and F.R.A.C.S (Paediatric Surgery) from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. Mr Blakelock is currently enrolled in a PhD programme.
Ms Kath Fox
Ms Fox is Chief Executive of Richmond New Zealand. This is a national non-government organisation providing community mental health and disability support services. Kath has held a range of senior executive and governance positions in the public, non-government and voluntary sectors. Her experience encompasses health and the wider social service sector which includes policy and funding, workforce development, post entry clinical training, special education, Māori development, mental health and, service delivery.
