About the Maori Health Committee
The Maori Health Committee (MHC) is a statutory committee of the HRC, with identical responsibilities to other research committees; distributing funds allocated by the council for Maori health research and career development. The founding Chair was the late Professor Eru Pomare (Te Atiawa, Ngati Toa, Ngati Kahungunu, Rongomai-wahine, Rongo Whakaata). The MHC held its first meeting on 14 February 1991.

The Criteria for Membership for membership for the MHC are set out in section 23 of the Health Research Council Act 1990
