MedSci is New Zealand's premier multi-disciplinary biomedical and medical sciences conference and incorporates the meetings of the NZ Society of Endocrinology and the Physiological Society of NZ, as well as special interest groups from the Auckland Bioengineering Institute, the Institute of Biomedical Technologies and the Otago Centre for Neuroendocrinology.

MedSci has again lined up a series of excellent speakers at Queenstown Research Week. Full details are at the MedSci webpage but highlights of the programme include:

Plenary lectures from:

* Dr Dee Silverthorn, Professor of Medical Education, Dell Medical School, University of Texas at Austin, USA. Lecture titled The future of teaching: creating our scientists.

* Professor James Pearson, Director Department of Cardiac Physiology at the National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Centre, Osaka, Japan. His work concerning synchrotron imaging of the cardiovascular system is of world renown. His lecture will be on the effect of cardiac remodelling on function. 

* Professor Simon Malpas, Department of Physiology and Auckland Bioengineering Institute, University of Auckland. Lecture titled Commercialising research; problems, pitfalls and potential​.

Symposia topics that include:

* Perinatal brain damage and neurotherapeutic strategies 

* Respiratory diagnostics and therapies 

* Mechanobiology in health and disease 

* Hormones and social behaviours

* Super-resolution microscopy

* Uterine function and dysfunction.
